The prime activity of VNS is embedded systems design, offered as a service to mainly small and medium sized industrial companies for such tasks as:
- determination of system specifications
- development of system and software architecture
- introduction of tools and methods
- execution of sub developments
- assisting project leaders in a counterpart rôle
Operational involvement - as for example with the design, implementation and testing of sub projects - can significantly reduce pressure on your own R&D people or give them a flying start in the process of adopting to a new technology or on the road to a new product. VNS does not seek to be a in-house subcontractor but strives to participate in a wider sense targetting systematic reinforcement of the project team.
For many industrial embedded systems, external control by PCs or PLCs through either standard or proprietary fieldbusses is an essential aspect. VNS has built up extensive experience in this area, specifically with the design of Object Oriented control software with RAD tools such as Delphi. These often also provide an effective alternative where standard SCADA solutions are undesired or impossible. VNS can assist with:

- modelling, design and vitual prototyping of balanced user interface
- definition of communication structures

An important aspect of the constantly increasing impact of 'software' in many systems is the sound and proper use of available tools and methods.
